Colors (Wrapper Leaf)

Claro Claro: Candella or fire cured cigars with a light greenish appearance (these light green wrapper leaves are slightly sweet and very light-tasting). These cigars were once referred to as the American Market Selection. They are not very popular today.

Claro: The lightest shade--blonde, or light golden brown. Cigars with these wrappers have a more neutral flavor.

Naturale: Medium brown, also called English Market Selection. This is the most widely smoked wrapper leaf.

Colorado: A medium shade--ripe, reddish brown, producing a rich flavor with subtle aroma. It is a spicier and less common wrapper.

Maduro: A dark shade, with a rich, full flavor, mild aroma, and light, sweet taste because of the natural fermentation process.

Oscuro: A dark, coffee-black wrapper, often powerful and rich-flavored A dark-colored wrapper does not necessarily indicate the cigar will be fuller-tasting. There is also debate over whether a darker wrapper may have more nicotine than a light-colored leaf.
